Boxing Day reportedly has its advent in the UK about 800 years ago, during the Middle Ages. It was the day when the alms box and collection boxes for the poor, often kept in churches, were traditionally opened so that the contents could be distributed to the less fortunate in society. Some churches still open these boxes on Boxing Day.

  • Glue the other cardboard octagon cut-out flat onto the top of the tubes. Let dry. This forms the base of your basket.
  • When dry, glue larger construction paper octagon cut out to the bottom of the base. Fold excess paper to the top and secure with glue.
  • Glue smaller construction paper octagon cut-out to the top of your base.
  • Fold paper tube across the next paper tube along the octagon shaped base, and so on, until you’re back at the start.
