Looking for a social event to attend and unwind in Trinidad and Tobago this September?

Whether you’re a local, new in town or cruising on holiday in the Caribbean, there are sociable events taking place this month in Trinidad and Tobago. Due to its ethnic diversity, Trinidad and Tobago ensures that all are represented, and celebrations are observed by various groups, individuals and the public at large.

Here are 5 notable events taking place in September in Trinidad and Tobago:

1. Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival

The Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival is a celebration of the best films from and about the Caribbean and its diaspora, as well as from the world cinema.

The film festival is set to promote indigenous filmmaking through:

  • Screening films by local and regional filmmakers
  • Hosting special guests
  • Hosting workshops on the technical aspects of filmmaking
  • Panel discussions on challenges in the filmmaking industry in general

FILMCO, a non-profit filmmakers collaborative, runs the event, and this year, Lisa Wickham, CEO of Imagine Media International will be one of the judges. The TTFF runs from September 20 to 27

2. Subway Maracas Open Water Classic 2022

Registration is now open for the Subway Maracas Open Water Classic 2022 competition.
Some of the categories for the event include:

  •  Adult (13+) 5,000m swim
  • Adult (13+) & Juniors 1,000m swim

The safety of visitors to the area is ensured, with on-site support from: Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross, REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Team) and other security bodies.

3. Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association Tournaments
The Trinidad and Tobago Association shares the vision of GOLF FOR ALL and works with other ministries in the country and the Tourism Development Company (TDC). With this, the Association has expanded the game, while providing opportunities for fostering relationships and opportunities for boys, girls, men and women.

Below are some of the events organized by the Association in September:

  • Barbados Open 2022: September 16, 2022
  • Chris Harries Outstanding Service Tournament, Brechin Castle, Couva: September 25, 2022

4. Trinidad and Tobago Restaurant Week
Trinidad and Tobago Restaurant Week is a culinary celebration of the best restaurants in the country. The event is usually a ten-day extravaganza, with the participating restaurants offering exclusive menus at reduced prices. The event is family friendly, so many of the restaurants include kid-friendly menus and other categories. Restaurant Week usually starts on September 23rd and runs until October 2nd. Prepare your tastebuds.

5. Trinidad and Tobago Republic Day
Following on the patriotic highs of our Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of Independence, we celebrate our 46th Republic Day on September 24. In 1976, Trinidad and Tobago abolished the monarchy system and became a Republic within the Commonwealth with a new constitution, and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was born. Let’s keep waving that Trini flag high!
