Volunteerism

What exactly is volunteerism? Volunteerism is an act which is carried out willingly to the benefit of individuals, where there is no intention of any financial reward. Many would describe it as an unpaid job, which involves spending time doing something that aims to benefit others.

Volunteering is what makes a community, because it brings people together to work on a goal. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to change people’s lives, and it gives you the satisfaction of playing a role in someone else’s life, helping people who may not be able to help themselves. Acts such as these benefit not only the individuals who receive goods or services as a result of such altruistic behavior, but also the wider society, by creating trust and strengthening solidarity among communities.

The impact of volunteerism is immeasurable. Volunteering is not only effective, but it’s a good way to meet people, learn, and develop social skills, while gaining valuable work experience all at the same time. The volunteering experience contributes to personal development, especially in areas such as self-fulfillment, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Employers realize that as a volunteer, you must be able to prioritize your schedule in order to devote time for activities that benefit others. When employers see active volunteerism on a resume, they are much more likely to hire said person. Employers are aware that most people who offer their time are conscientious, honest and hardworking individuals.

So whether you wish to contribute positively to your community or a social activity, be sure to devote your time to a cause that is close to your heart, with a group or organization that you believe will make a difference.

It is definitely an experience that cannot be bought with any amount of money.
