Nobody loves Christmas more than children do, so to get them in the holiday mood, consider these simple craft ideas that they will definitely love. These fun Christmas activities will create more than just ornaments, they represent memories for years to come.
Bristol Board Christmas Bulbs
Materials:
- Bristol Board Construction Paper
- Plastic Wrap Scissors
- Glue Drawing/Colouring Utensils
- Puncher
- Ribbon
Instructions:
- Cut any colour construction paper into many tiny pieces. Shape of pieces can vary. Set aside.
- Draw outlines of Christmas bulbs on Bristol Board, two of the same size, one for the back and one for the front.
- After cutting out two outlines of bulbs, cut a hole in the Bristol board cut-outs, leaving a two-inch border.
- Cut out two circles in your plastic wrap of the same size to measure up to the same size as your Bristol board cut-outs.
- Place tiny pieces of construction paper on plastic wrap. Cover pieces with 2nd piece of plastic wrap. Glue together and let dry.
- Colour/decorate and punch a hole at the top of your outline of Christmas bulbs whilst plastic wrap dries.
- Glue plastic wrap on the back Bristol board cut out. Let dry.
- Glue front Bristol board cut out to plastic wrap. Let dry.
- Thread a ribbon through the hole at the top of your Bristol board.
- Hang as desired on Christmas tree.
Pipe Cleaner Candy Cane
Materials:
- Pipe Cleaners Scissors
- Different coloured beads (red, white and green are great options!)
Instructions:
- Shape Pipe cleaners into candy cane shapes. Twist the bottom end of pipe cleaner to secure.
- Thread beads through pipe cleaner leaving a couple of inches at the end.
- Twist the end of the pipe cleaner to secure. Cut off any excess.
- Hang as desired on Christmas tree.
Clothespin Snowflakes
Materials:
- Clothes Pins
- White Paint/Spray Paint
- Hot Glue
- Scissors
- White Ribbon
Instructions:
- Separate clothes Pins
- Cut a piece of ribbon and glue to the back end of the clothespin.
- Spray paint/paint clothes pins white.
- When dry, glue together clothespins from the back.
- When dry, glue together angled ends of clothespins, four at a time.
- When dry, attach four more along the spaces of the first pre-glued set.
- When dry, hang as desired.
Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree
Materials:
- 7-10 pallet sticks
- Green paint
- Glue
- Sequins
- Twine/yarn
Instructions:
- Paint pallet sticks with green and let dry.
- When dry, arrange and glue pallet sticks in the shape of a Christmas tree, using one as a bark/base of the tree. You will have to brake the sticks in a third, a half, then a quarter, and so on to achieve the desired effect.
- When dry, decorate your tree by gluing sequins to the pallet sticks.
- When dry, tie twine to the top of the tree and hang on your Christmas tree where desired.
