Just one day to the Indian Arrival Day in Trinidad and Tobago, the company that runs an India In Style Expo situated opposite the Centre of Excellence, Enigma Events Limited, in Tunapuna, has been ordered by the High Court to cease all business activities on the premises by 12 am on June 6th.
Ruling on the case, Justice Carol Gobin, a High Court Judge in Port-of-Spain said that Enigma Events did not have the requisite certification from the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) to carry out business activities at the premises, ordering them to stop all activities till the necessary authorisations are received.
According to a statement Enigma Events issued against the actions taken by the TPRC, the company is locally registered and is facing a trend of anti-foreign investor participation with the local population, thereby creating a negative business environment in the country. It goes on the say that the company remains committed to working with the TPRC in a practical and reasonable manner, as they have done in the past.
The company insists that the regulations of the building fall under its scope. The company also accepted to stop operations, pay the fine of $2,500 and then begin to prepare towards acquiring the necessary authorisations needed to operate according to municipal standards.
