A fading dream
When Trinidad & Tobago qualified for Germany 2006, they had one point from three games. Now, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) has fired Coach Stephen Hart after just two games in the World Cup Qualification Round. Trinidad and Tobago is now without a coach for a couple of days, and no one knows who is shortlisted to take over the reins from Coach Hart. Does this mean goodbye to Russia 2018?
What went wrong?
Is it that the Football Association is playing politics with our football? What is going on? We have been asking questions time and time again, but yet, there are still no answers. Do we play the blame game? The thing is, if the TTFA knew beforehand that they were going to fire Coach Hart, they should have already selected a couple of names, or perhaps, there should have at least been a replacement on standby.
Who will take up the mantle?
Everyone is wondering who would take up the mantle to help us qualify for Russia 2018. Are there any qualified coaches in the country to take up this challenge? Losing Coach Hart now is detrimental to the players and fans. Our national team must now try and adapt to a new playing structure in a very short space of time. If you were able to watch our team play recently, you would have noticed some improvement in our football. Now, with the loss of a coach, our guys must dig deep, raise their level of professionalism, play to the best of their ability and focus on the main prize, World Cup Russia 2018.
There are some names the fans will like to see take up the job. However, it’s all in the TTFA’s hands to make that decision. We can only hope that it is done in the best interest of the players. Let’s just wait and see.
